Larry was born September 14, 1938 in Teague, Texas to Robert Eugene and Frankie (Mallard) Jones. He lived in Port Lavaca, Corpus Christi while working for Texas Farm Bureau in the Rio Grande Valley Area most of his life. He retired from Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Company after 30 plus years of service and moved back to his hometown of Wortham.
It was evident, by the way Larry lived his life, that God, family, and friends were most important to him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Although he loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and working cattle, he proved he could also be a good caregiver. When his wife of 43 years, Suzie, became ill, caring for her became his priority.
Larry also enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with friends, most were like family. He was an active member of the Wortham Methodist Church, and the Longbotham Lodge #428 A. F. & A. M. Larry was a willing supporter of all things that would benefit the people/town of Wortham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frankie Jones, and daughter, Meagan.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Suzie Jones; son, David Jones and wife, Phyliss; daughters, Jana Jones, and Pam Thompson; grandchildren, Chris Jones, Hayden Jones, Johnston Jones, Candi Reed, Ashley Lester, Taylor Thompson, and Walker Thompson; brother, John Robert Jones; several great grandchildren; and nephews.
