Lawrence (Brownie) Brown Sr. passed away Sunday, September 4, 2005 at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 6 at Blair - Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Rev. Harvey Hallmark will officiate with interment following in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday night 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Brownie was born October 31, 1924 at Bartlett, Texas to John Homer and Susan (Susie) Colander Bush Brown. Brownie attended school at Bartlett, worked in the oilfield, worked on ranches and worked at the Victoria Fire Department over 20 years, retiring in 1986 after having a heart attack. He was a member of VFW Post # 4694 in Mexia. He served in the navy during World War II aboard USS Roberts and USS Tucson for four Years, 5 months, 13 days. (1943-1948). Survivors are his wife, Mary of Mexia, daughter and son in law: Gloria and John Blaylock; Son: Lawrence Brown, Jr. ; Granddaughter and grandson in law: Shelley and Allen Brotze grandsons: Cody Blalock and Eric Brown and great grandson, Evan Brown all of Victoria. Also survived by the following stepchildren: Daughter & son in law: Pat and Louis Adams and granddaughter and grandson in law: Melissa and Steve Easterling; grandson, Marc Pilkington; great granddaughter: Caitlin Easterling all of Mexia and great grandson, Seth Daniel White Pilkington of Corsicana. Brothers: Ernest Brown of Lane City, Texas and R. L. Brown of Kosse: Sister: Julia Howell of Rosenberg and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Society. Pallbearers will be Eric Brown, Earl Brown, John Blaylock, Cody Blaylock, Steve Easterling, Scott Crockett and Marc Pilkington.
