Lee Roy Crook Jr., 58, of Mexia, left this earth to be with his heavenly father on October 10, 2011. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 2 PM with officiating Rev. Marcus Sheffield. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery with a private family service. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, October 12th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home. Lee Roy was born on November 8, 1952 at Brown Hospital in Mexia, Texas. He worked and managed Crook Auto Supply with his family for the majority of his life and was employed with NAPA in Groesbeck for 15 years. Lee Roy served as a city commissioner in Mexia and supported positive interests in the community. It was no secret Lee Roy was a Mexia Blackcat fan by his tremendous effort during the state "89" championship year and his continued participation in every prediction show in the area. His enthusiasm as a "true defender" was beyond blowing an air horn at the game. He loved encouraging the kids to do their very best and supporting Mexia. Part of Lee Roy's legacy on this earth will be remembered as always being an optimist and outgoing individual "who never met a stranger." Lee Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Crook Sr. and Verna Faye Sanders Crook. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Leigh Crook; a son, Matthew Chase Crook; and wife, Connie Curry Crook. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Carolyn Carlson Crook; father-in-law, Jack Carlson of Personville; his daughters, Kelly Crook Harrison and husband, James of Mexia, Sara Crook Chiglo and husband, Jordan of Groesbeck, JoBeth Crook Reed and husband, Ryan of Mexia and Lauren Nicole Crook; and step-son, Jeff Davis Blair IV of Mexia. Lee Roy was blessed with eight grandchildren. Landry and Evan Harrison of Mexia; Ty and Emily Chiglo of Groesbeck; Jacie Henderson, Kennedy Reed, Presley Reed and Hallie Reyes of Mexia. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Crook Odom and husband, Bill of Hewitt; Joanne Crook Bess of Goodyear, Az; Shirley Crook of Midland, Tx, June Crook Shearer of Oregon, Sue Crook Banks and husband, Gene of California; sister-in-law, Elrose Miller and husband Billy of Mexia; sister-in-law, Jami Curry Hawthorne of Mexia and brother-in-law, Jack Carlson of California. Lee Roy left behind nieces, Amy Moss Jansik, Bridgett Bess and Candace Winstead; and nephews, John Moss, Brian Gibson and Brian Miller. Pallbearers will be Dave Campbell, Richard Duncan, Scott Batts, Doyle Curry, Pat Simmons and Billy Don York. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ty Chiglo, Landry and Evan Harrison.
