Lewis Paul West, Sr.

Lewis Paul West, Sr., of Teague, entered God’s rest on May 3, 2024 at the age of 63.  He was born May 14, 1960 in Teague Texas to Claire Hershel West and Agnes Marie Sonka.  He was a certified pipe fitter that was highly dedicated to each job and wanted to produce high-quality results.

Lewis’ highest dedication was to the love of his life, his wife, Kathy West.  He was also very passionate in his love for his kids, grandkids, family, friends, and especially his relationship with the Lord.  He was extremely grateful to God for his life and, also, for all the loved ones He had given him for a family.  His devotion to his loved ones was apparent in his socially, yet sometimes overbearing personality, his heart that was bigger than his stature and the affectionate care he had for others.  He knew zero strangers.

Lewis was a “child at heart” and greatly enjoyed playing games with his kids and grandkids.  He always believed he had the ability to one-up anything anybody could do.  He loved listening to music, singing, going on long walks, swimming, playing sports, watching sports, fishing, and family gatherings with Bar-B-Que.

Lewis sought out anyway he could make his grandkids smile, laugh, and just be happy.  Letting his loved ones know how much he loved them gave him the greatest joy in his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claire Herschel West; mother, Agnes Marie Sonka; brother, Larry Don West; sister, Angie Kerry; and son-in-law, Mario Rodriguez, Jr.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Kathy West; son, Lewis West, Jr. and wife, Anna; daughters, Leslie Rodriguez and Tisha Chappell; grandchildren, Joshua Chappell, Alycia Chappell, Raven George, Tobi Wright, Hunter Yarbrough, Zoie Wright and Jaxson Hibbs; Great grandchild, Aislinn Chappell; siblings, Lee West, Lori Daniels, and Terri Lynn Jacobs and husband Dwayne; best friend Lonnie Shockley; and many, many more nieces, nephews, and other friends and family.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor David West officiating.
