Lillian Merle Aman Baker went to be with the Lord on Sunday Morning, May 7, 2006 at the Windsor Healthcare Residence in Groesbeck, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 11,at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church, Thornton, Texas with the Rev. D. E. Jones, Rev. Eddie Atkinson and Rev. Roland Hill officiating..She will be buried beside her husband in the Thornton Cemetery by Blair - Stubbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Baker was born on September 4, 1906 to William H. and Lillie Aman of the Prairie View community near Thornton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Mason Baker, a daughter, Martha Baker Bingham and two grandsons, Terry Alford and Perry Bingham. Mr. and Mrs. Baker were married 63 years. She was member of First Baptist Church, Pasadena, TX for many years where they placed the cornerstone for their new building. She later became a member of Central Baptist Church, Thornton, TX when she became a resident at the Windsor Residence. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed family gatherings, gardening and oil painting. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Alford and her husband, Vernon of Pasadena, TX, son-in-law, Wilburn Bingham of Paige, TX, 3 granddaughters, Ann Atkinson and husband, Eddie of Hernando, FL, Nancy Herndon and husband, Ed of Canyon Lake, TX, Pamela Hodson and husband, Bob of Seabrook, TX, sister, Ruth Estelle Beard of Thornton, One grandson, Timothy Alford and wife, Diane of Leona, Texas, ten great Grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbeaers will be Bob Hodson, Steve Sharp, Preston Hairgrove, Edward Herndon, Terry Hodson and Russell Dickerson. Honorary pallbearers are Vernon Alford, Timothy Alford, Bill Payne and David Payne. Visitation is 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, May 10, at Blair - Stubbs Chapel in Thornton, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church Mission Dept., Thornton, Texas or Alzheimers Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, Illinois, 60601-7633
