Lillian Faye Prowell passed away August 1, 2016, in Mexia, at the age of 86. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Northcrest Church of Christ with Mr. Shane Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Josh Prowell, Aaron Prowell, Ben Prowell, Alex Davis, Don Corbitt, John Turpin and Dwight Gamble will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Lillian was born in Teague, Texas on November 10, 1929 to Cary and Cassie French Jones. She was a graduate of Teague High School, Class of 1947. Lillian married the love of her life, Calvin D. Prowell, on September 6, 1947. They moved to Mexia, where they made their home. After her children were old enough to go to school, she went to work for Mexia ISD and retired after 28 years of service as a Teacher's Aide. Lillian enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting with people. She was a longtime faithful and active member of Northcrest Church of Christ. She taught Bible classes for many years, was an Elder's wife for 40 years and made numerous home visits. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jack C. Jones. Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Calvin Prowell of Mexia; sons, Fred Prowell and wife, Anna of Pearland; Mark Prowell and wife, Deborah of Lufkin and David Prowell and wife, Emily of Weatherford; grandchildren, Jana Prowell, Josh Prowell, Aaron Prowell, Ben Prowell and Sarah Prowell Davis; and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Mexia ISD Scholarship Fund or Northcrest Church of Christ.
