Linda N. Kegerreis (Baty), a Native 68 year Texan. On January 2, at Providence Hospital, Waco, Texas I said good bye to My Linda, My Sweetheart of 25 years and let the loving arms of our living God surround her and take her to our Heavenly Home after a short, devastating, lung illness. However, this is NOT the most important part. What matters most is the dash "-" found between her birth on April 17, 1944 - and death on January 2, 2013! Linda felt very strongly about this. Linda was and is defined by love, family, faith and community. Abundant love, both the softer and tougher sides of it, was/is Linda. Love is 25 years of loving marriage to Craig. Love is the involvement of care, and patience helping so many others in all of life's encounters via family, faith, and community. Love is knowing when and how to share this love. Family and extended family was so important to her. Three siblings, Judy, Bob, and Bill chatted with her frequently and loved her much. She loved her four children, David, Christopher, Rhonda, and Rodney across the miles to insure all were in good hands. Her extended family was contacted much more than most. She was a wonderfully active, available, and present grandmother to her nine direct grandchildren plus 3 adopted ones without any exclusion. All together, she is survived by 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Her faith was foundational, stable, and enduring. Her involvements included active membership with First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Mexia for 16+ years. As a part of the United Methodist Women, she was Treasurer for the 2012/2013 year. Linda was also involved in the FUMC Wednesday evening children's ministry program as a helper/assistant. Additionally she was a certificated Stephen Minister within the church at large which is a trained caregiving ministry to those in a hurting world. On the United Methodist Church national level she was the current Monthly News Letter editor for Chapter 16 of the "National United Methodist Campers" (NUMC) organization and member for 10+ years. NUMC is a Christian oriented RV camping program to encompass Christian fellowship of communal activities of singing, eating, playing games, and Worshiping in an outdoor life setting. The local community was equally important. Activities included: Member of the Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) of Leon County and current Vice President (2012/2013). She was also a member of the Mexia Friday Club as part of the program committee for 2012/2013 year. In past years Linda served as Vice President of the East Lake Limestone Volunteer Fire Department. Linda always made time to enjoy reading, cooking, Swedish weaving, quilting, board games, square dancing, and RVing with friends and neighbors to the fullest extent of her abilities. On January 12 at 3 P.M. in a Memorial service in her remembrance we will Commend her Ashes to God in a Celebration of Life Worship Service at the First United Methodist in Mexia, Texas. It is Linda's request that memorial flowers and plants be prepared suitable for sharing the Essence Of Life with those living in local nursing and retirement homes after the Committal Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Honor of Linda to the First United Methodist Church's Wednesday night Children's & Youth Ministry programs or Aldersgate Enrichment Center in Brownwood, Texas, a facility for marginally handicapped adults sponsored by the United Methodist Church One final word to my sweetheart from "Brahm's Lullaby" "Good evening, good night, With roses adorned, With carnations covered, Slip under the covers, Tomorrow morning, God wants so, You will wake once again, With All New Life."
