Lowell Benjamin Posey passed away on February 15, 2025 In Mexia, Texas at the age of 87. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025 in the Freestone Cowboy Church with Pastor Josh Gafford officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m., at the same location.
Lowell was born March 5, 1937 in Sulphur Bluff, Texas to Alton B. and Vera (Francis) Posey.
Posey (as many friends called him) lived a full and active 87 years. He purchased a lake house for a weekend get away from the hectic Dallas life, where he was a sales manager. His weekend house became his home in 1994.
In 1994, he married Jay Mills and moved to Lake Mexia. There he enjoyed his yard, his pets, volunteering for the Lake Mexia Fire Department, and his weekly 42 games with friends.
He was a loyal Texas Ranger and Dallas Cowboy fan. He also loved his Freestone Cowboy Church and was a faithful and active member there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Vera Posey; brother, Billy Douglass Posey; and sister, Delma Eudene Park.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Jay Posey; son, Lowell Duane Posey; daughter, Kathy Houchins and husband, Steve and stepdaughter, Julie Robertson and husband James; grandchildren, Mellisa Posey, Stephen Posey, Clayton Caldwell and wife, Sarah, Mallory Behlman and husband, Tyler, and Renee Yarrington and husband, Jordan; great grandchildren, Halia, Sevi, James, Caden, Jessica, Benjamin, Avery, Max, Dylan, Ryan, Christian and Dakota; nephew, Larry Park; and niece, Sherry Miller.
