Maedell Virginia "Maw" Tanner, 84, of Mexia passed away September 26, 2009. Graveside services will be 11 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in the Dawson Cemetery. Rev. Marcus Sheffield will officiate. Maedell was born August 21, 1925 in Hubbard, Texas to Lonnie and Ruth (Thompson) Wells. She was a graduate of Dawson High School. Maedell was manager of Pursley's Dress Shop in Hubbard for 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, visiting her granddaughter and her co-workers at the florist (and they loved her). She was a huge fan of Elvis and loved the CMA Awards. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Olin "Buddy" Tanner. Maedell is survived by her son, Jimmie Wade Tanner of Kansas; granddaughter, Marcy Goodrich and husband, Alan of Mexia; grandson, Kevin Tanner and wife, Christy of Valley Mills; great-grandchildren, Holly and Hope Goodrich of Mexia and Brittany & Derrick Tanner of Valley Mills; and dearest friend, Herlinda Nesmith of Dawson.
