Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Ken Lane officiating.  Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the same location.  Interment will follow in the Tehuacana Cemetery.  Kent Yelverton, Alden Garber, Sonny Yelverton, Tommy Platt, Kellan Mathis, Nick Nichols, and Zack Fatkin will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Platt, Clynt Platt, Clay Platt, Chandler Boyd, Blake Mathis, Caleb Fatkin, Nathan Fatkin, Ben Fatkin, Case Nichols, Charlie Platt, and Ross Low.

Margadelle was born February 18, 1924 in Coolidge, Texas to Weightstill Avery and Mary Elizabeth (Barham) Iley.  She lived in the Coolidge/Tehuacana area her entire life, attending Coolidge schools, and graduating from Coolidge High School.  She married Lloyd Yelverton on September 4, 1943; they were blessed with 61 years together and four children, Carol, Charles Dana, Kent, and Sharon.

Margadelle’s love for God, family, and friends was exemplified by the way she lived her life.  Her most important job was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was the one who took care of the grandkids when they were sick, when their parents were traveling or for any reason.  She enjoyed attending the activities in which her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids were involved; they all knew they could count on her for anything and at any time.  She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Margadelle worked in various offices as a bookkeeper including Dr. Martin’s dentist office and Casual Fashions.  She was very talented and crafty.  She and her longtime friend, Shirley Edwards, even started their own business called “Sawing Grandmas”.  She sewed many dresses, costumes, and quilted quilts for all her kids and others.  She even starred in a TV commercial.  Margadelle enjoyed reading, collecting thimbles and Precious Moments, going to the casino, and playing cards with her friends.  She basically enjoyed life and took advantage of it as much as possible; she was always ready to get on the ‘bus’ any time it was leaving!

Margadelle had a great personality, loved visiting people, enjoyed laughing and cutting up, and always greeted everyone with a smile.  She was known by many and all that knew her, knew that Red Door was her signature scent.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Yelverton; infant daughter, Carol Yelverton; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Dana and Starlene Yelverton; brother and sister-in-law, Dana and Doris Iley; and sister, Mildred Fort.

Margadelle is survived by her children, Kent Yelverton and Sharon Garber and husband, Alden; grandchildren, Tammy and Tommy Platt,  Sonny Yelverton and Ashley Lanthrop, Guyanne and Kellan Mathis, Brandi and Zack Fatkin, Kera and Nick Nichols; great grandkids, Rusty, Clynt, Maecy, Clay, Chandler, Mikayla, Blake Erica, Brook, Caroline, Caleb, Nathan, Ben, Ella, Kamryn, and Case; great-great grandkids, Gentry, Charlie, Chesnee, McKenna, and four on the way.
