Margie Hazel Thomas Martin, 80, of Bellaire, Texas passed away July 1, 2012. Funeral services will be 1PM, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Joe R. Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. until time for the service on Thursday, at the funeral home. Margie was born July 14, 1931 in Mexia, Texas to Joe R. and Lillie Capehart Thomas. She was a graduate of Mexia High School. Margie retired after 35 years as a legal secretary. During her years of employment, she served as a stenographer for the DPS, executive secretary to the Sr. VP of Panhandle Eastern Pipeline and legal secretary for attorneys Browning Bushman, Bracewell, Patterson, Gunn & Assoc., Ray Wiley and Tim Cook in Houston. She was a former member of the Desk and Derrick Club. She was an accomplished artist and loved oil painting, enjoyed ceramics and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Darrell Glen Martin; two brothers, J. W. Thomas and Buck Thomas; four sisters, Dorothy Hill, Faye Chrisner, Charlotte Best and Beth Falke. Margie is survived by a son, Gary B. Martin (Houston, TX); two grandchildren, Andrew Owen Martin (Nashville, TN) and Kelly Elizabeth Martin (Austin, TX); four nieces, Anna Beth Foust (Longview, TX), Dena Russell (Corsicana, TX), Eva Jo Chrisner (Lockhart, TX) and Kimberly Kilbert (Floral Park, NY); five nephews, Jay Ronald Thomas (Benton, TX), Andrea Thomas (South Houston, TX), Perry Thomas (Magnolia, TX), Bryan Best (Sugar Land, TX) and Bruce Falke (Safety Harbor, FL).
