Martha Williams

Martha B. Williams passed away on May 13, 2017 in Waco, Texas at the age of 75. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Norcross officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Glade Cemetery. Blake Reed, Chad Commander, Darrell Spurlock, Jordan Maggard, Jason Morton and Steven Starnes will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from Noon until service time at 2 PM, Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church. Martha was born February 28, 1942 in Mexia, Texas to Sig and Elsie Mae Eddy Erickson. She has been a lifelong resident of Mexia. She retired from the Mexia State School after more than 20 years of service in the sewing department. Shortly after retiring, she opened her own business providing alterations and making clothes. Martha made numerous cheerleading suits for both little girls and cheerleaders; she also made clothes for the actors and actress during the time Mexia held community theaters. Needless to say, she like to keep busy and enjoyed working. Martha married her loving husband, Ronald L. Williams, on June 18, 1986 in Clinton, TN. She was the loving and proud mother of three children, Terri, Michelle and Randy, who blessed her with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She, also, loved her sweet little dog, Baby. Her life revolved around her family. Martha was happiest when all her family was together; she always made holidays special. She loved flowers and a pretty yard; she and Ron worked tirelessly together to accomplish a yard they were proud of. Martha was quiet and soft spoken but she loved people, made friends easily and was willing to help anyone. Martha was the "go to" person that her family knew they could count on when they needed someone to lean on for whatever reason, brothers and sisters included. You knew she was a person of strong faith by the way she lived. She loved the Lord, her church family, her many friends and being a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Martha will not only be missed by her loving family but by many throughout the Mexia area. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Brady Reed; and brothers, Gene and Ed Erickson. Martha is survived by her husband, Ronald Williams; daughters, Terri Reed and husband, Barry of Mexia and Michelle Lummus and wife, Jana of Mexia; son, James R. "Randy" Lummus and wife, Nicole of Teague; grandchildren, Kasey Commander and husband, Chad of Mexia, Blake Reed of Mexia, Kelsie Maggard and husband, Jordan of Teague, Kenley Lummus and Hayden Lummus both of Teague; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Korie and Bowen Reed and Ellee, Casen and Remi Kate Commander; sisters, Nancy Jones and Genie Lummus both of Mexia; brother, Bobby Ray Erickson and wife, Joanne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
