Mary Ann Malfa, 82, of Mexia, passed away September 30, 2013 in Groesbeck, Texas. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mary Ann was born May 15, 1931 in Limestone County, Texas to Leonard Harvard and Mary Carolyn Hargrove Miles. She retired after a banking career of 44 years; most of which were with Texas Commerce Bank. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to caring for her children. Mary Ann found being a grandmother was one of the greatest joys in the world; she cherished her grandsons. Mary Ann's hobbies consisted of crafts, which included foiling and painting; and there was nothing that could top her love for shopping. She also had a faithful friend and companion, her Pug-Max. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mexia. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. Mary Ann is survived by her son, Mark Anthony Malfa of Hockley; daughter, Sarah Barnes and husband, Bret of Missouri City; grandsons, Trenton Anthony Barnes and Korbin Anderson Barnes; a number of nieces and nephews; and a good friend, James Taliaferro.
