Melita Ruth Robison, 90, of Thornton, passed away November 24, 2024, at home in Thornton, Texas, with her family at bedside. Funeral services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton with Pastor Ben Huebner officiating. Interment will follow in the Cobb Cemetery. Kristopher Masters, Randall Masters, McKenzie Masters, Caden Hughes, Hagen Hughes, and Jonathan Tooke will serve as pallbearers. Austin Sandefer, Brayden Robison, Dillon Prichard, Dakota Swann, Jayton Swann, Aiden Whiteside, and Jonathan Brouillette will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm, November 25th, at the Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton, Texas.
Melita was born in Thornton, Limestone County, Texas, to Rubin Earl Smelscer and Lola Mae Padgett Smelscer. Melita attended school in Thornton, Texas. Melita’s lifelong job was being a housewife, mother, grand, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Officially known as “Nanny” to all friends and family. She worked, for a short time, outside the home as a cook and waitress. She was also a big part of Food for Families for many years. Melita was involved for many years with the Thornton Riding Club.
She was preceded in death by her Loving husband Shorty Robison; parents, Rubin Earl and Lola Mae Smelscer; and two of her great grandchildren, Remington Masters and Colton Lee Whiteside; and her brother Jimmy Edd Smelscer.
She is survived by her children: James (Inky) Rubin Robison and wife Shirley of Thornton, Debra Lee Robison Masters and husband Mason of Thornton, Joseph (Joey) William Robison and wife Carla of Thornton, Lolita Jane Robison Dutton and Partner David Ramsey of Payne Springs. Grandchildren: Sheryl and Anthony Swann of Butler, Crystal and Keith Sandefer of Teague, Christina Robison and Jeff Whiteside of Dew, Shelley and Michael McCaleb of Kosse, Sherri and Anthony (Tony) Brouillette of Thornton, Keith Masters of Thornton, James and Mandy Robison of Groesbeck, Traci Hughes and Thompson Meyers of Marquez, Juston and Britney Prichard, of Seale, Jolita and Ricky Johnson of Teague, Amber and Brett Southard of Thornton; brother Stanley (Butch) Earl Smelscer and wife Gail of Hewitt. She is also survived by a host of great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; and so many more that called her Nanny.
