Mildred Beene

Lorene Cox Beene, 90, of Houston, formerly of Longview, passed away October 26, 2011 in Cypress, Texas. Funeral services will be 10AM, Friday, October 28, 2011 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Rick Cundieff officiating. Interment will be in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be, prior to the service, beginning at 9AM at the funeral home. Lorene was born September 2, 1921 in Mexia, Texas to Jeff Davis and Jo Anna Black Cox. She was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, socializing, spending time outdoors and was a pet lover. Lorene was a Charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Longview. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy H. Beene, Jr.; three children, Jackie Testerman, Guy H. Beene, III. and David Keith Beene; brother, Bruce Cox; sister, Helen Jones; and son-in-law, Ken Weitzel. Lorene is survived by two daughters, Barbara Dorsey and husband, Danny of Holly Lake Ranch and Jan Austin and husband, Aron of Houston; grandson, Daron Dorsey and wife, Jennie of Henderson, NV; granddaughters, Heather Davis and husband, Brad of Austin and Lauren Williams and husband, Sloane of Houston; great-granddaughter, Katie of Henderson, NV; sister-in-law, Louise Cundieff; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Beene, Dan Beene, Bill Beene, Don Beene, Jack Beene, Bobby Beene, David East, Gary Jones and Barry Jones. The family wishes to express special thanks to the Cypress Assisted Living Center staff and Lighthouse Hospice for their loving care.
