Prairie Hill - Mildred Virginia Thomason, a lifelong resident of Prairie Hill, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the age of 95. Visitation - Monday, June 8th from 5 - 7 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs in Mexia, Texas. Funeral Services - Tuesday, June 9th at 2 p.m. at Prairie Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Sain officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Antioch Cemetery on FM Road 933 N. Mildred ("Aunt Meme" to many) was born March 17, 1914 in Prairie Hill, the oldest daughter of George & Edna (Milner) Whiddon. She graduated from Westminster College. She married George Franklin Thomason ("Dutch") & enjoyed almost 50 years of life together. Although they never had children of their own, they enjoyed sharing in the lives of others & were "second parents" to many. Mildred enjoyed teaching children at the Mexia State School with each child holding a special place in her heart. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prairie Hill where she taught Children's Sunday School & served as treasurer for many years. She started & ended each day reading the bible. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star from age 16 until her death. Mildred is survived by her brother, George W. Whiddon, Jr. & his wife, Janelle, of Prairie Hill, Texas; her sister, Vivian "Pete" Freedman, of Hurst, Texas; and her sister-in-law, Luanne Thomason, of Waco, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials - Donations may be made to Prairie Hill Baptist Church, Mount Antioch Cemetery.
