Myrtis New

Mrs. Myrtis New, 96, longtime Arlington resident, passed away Friday May 25, 2007. Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, May 28, 2007, at the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel in Mexia with the Reverend Ken Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Mexia cemetery. Mrs. New was born in Freestone County to Willis Dixon Beene and Bettie Martin Beene. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and enjoyed serving as a volunteer both at church and in the community. On Sept. 24, 1929, she married Marvin Vester New of Mexia, TX, who preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Madeleine Kay Fell, granddaughter, Laura Griffin and husband Wess, grandson, Denton Fell and wife Lisa and great granddaughter Abby Lynn. Also surviving is her sister, Mozelle Carlisle of Houston.
