O.Y. "Bill" Goswick, 86, of Mexia, Texas passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Mexia on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 2 PM with Rev. Brad Brittain officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral home. O.Y. "Bill" Goswick was born June 26, 1923 in Dallas, Texas to O.Y. Goswick, Sr. and Jewel Goswick. At a very young age O. Y. Sr. shared his love for flying with his son Bill. At the age of 15, Bill had his pilot's license and it was a life long love of his. On June 28, 1942 Bill married the love of his life Lula. Bill and Lula were married 6 months prior to Bill joining the service where he was in the Army Air Corp. in WWII as a pilot and in the US Air Force in the Korean War. After Korea Bill was a flight instructor for the service and then moved into the private sector. Bill's professional career consisted of working for General Motors selling the GM heavy equipment line, running parts and service at Dick Scott Ford as a Junior partner, Flight instruction and flying Commercial Planes. Bill was given the opportunity to own his own business and moved to Robstown, Texas where he opened the Nueces Farm Center which was a Massey Ferguson Tractor and Equipment Dealership. Upon the death of his Brother-In-Law Dick Scott in 1970, Bill returned to Mexia and purchased Dick Scott Ford. Then Bill expanded and opened Goswick Mobile homes in Mexia and Fairfield, Texas. Bill carried on his father's tradition with free Masonry becoming a Mason in 1946 and became a member of Springfield Lodge when he moved to Mexia where he served as Worshipful Master in 2001. He was a member of Scottish Right in Waco. While in Mexia Bill was very active in his community and served in many civic organizations through out his life. Bill was preceded in death by his parents O.Y. Sr. and Jewel Goswick, Brothers Sammy and Horace and Sister Billie. He is survied by his wife, Lula Goswick, Son Richard "Dick" Goswick and wife Anita of Mexia, Daughter LuAnn Whitley and husband Ron of Arlington, daughter Debbie Goswick of Houston. Grandchildren, Kimberly Meyer and husband Patrick of Mexia, Richard Goswick, Jr and fiance Candice Harris of Mexia. Great Granddaughter, Mallory Ann Meyer.
