O. Norton

Mr. O.D. Derril Norton, 97 of Azle, formerly of Mexia passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005 in Azle. Mr. Norton was born March 21, 1908 in Dublin, Texas to O.R. and Lula Norton. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force. He and his wife, Sue were longtime residents of Mexia where they owned and operated Norton's Grocery on Palestine Street. Sue and Derril touched many lives with their ready smile and generous hearts. Derril is survived by his son and daughter-in-law - Kenny and Rosemary Norton of Key West, Florida, Granddaughters - Niki Norton of Saba, Netherlands Antillies and Dixi Hendrick of Fort Worth and by a Great Granddaughter - Kyndal Ashton Hendrick of Fort Worth. Graveside funeral services were held Friday in the Mexia cemetery with the Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. He was laid to rest next to his wife whom he had missed so much after her death in 1992.
