Patricia Colleen Grider

Patricia Colleen Grider, of Tehuacana, passed away in Waco, Texas on December 3, 2024 at the age of 85. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2024 in the Mexia Cemetery with Mr. Blan Crane officiating.

Patricia was born in Mexia, Texas on March 17, 1939 to Charlie and Daisy Grider. She had two older sisters, Marie and Jane and an older brother, Allen.

Patricia graduated from Mexia High School in 1957. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in Business Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and a Master of Science Degree with a major in Business Education from East Texas State University (now Texas A& M) in Commerce, Texas.

Patricia worked in the State Department of the United States in Paris, France and Belgrade, Yugoslavia, taught business courses at Irving High School in Irving, Texas, was Personnel Administrator and Executive Assistant in Dallas companies, and finally retired from the Mexia State School where she was Education Specialist for the Community Service Department.

It is very evident that Patricia was very eager to learn and a hard worker. The happiness in her life revolved around her love of teaching and all animals. Patricia dedicated her life to taking care of any stray animal that crossed her path. 

Patricia was a member of the Northcrest Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Daisy Grider; sisters, Marie Karbowski and Jane Crawford; brother, Allen Grider; nephew Robert Karbowski; and niece, Jo Ann Ponthieux.

Patricia is survived by a nephew, Guy Crawford, III and family; nieces, Pamela Williams and Melanie Allen and their families; and many great nieces and nephews,
