Peggy Bloomer

Services celebrating the life of Peggy Williams Bloomer, age 84 will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Christ Episcopal Church, 505 East Commerce Street in Mexia, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at North Belton Cemetery, 1500 N. Main Street, Belton, TX. Peggy died August 6, 2018 due to injuries sustained in an auto accident in Groesbeck. Peggy was born December 27, 1933, in Troy, Texas to parents, Fred and Bernice Rose Williams. She recalled a wonderful childhood living in Temple surrounded by a large, loving extended family. After graduating from Temple High School, she attended Temple Junior College and ultimately completed her coursework to graduate from Texas A&I in Kingsville to become an elementary school teacher. She loved teaching First Grade, impacting children in Riviera, Rockport-Fulton, LaGrange and Spring Branch Houston during her 27-year career. Peggy married John Benny Bloomer on May 29, 1955. They immediately moved to Kingsville to complete their education at Texas A&I and embark on their careers in education. Peggy was the epitome of a supportive high school football coach's wife. She used her cheerleading voice skills adeptly from the sidelines when supporting her husband and two sons! Peggy and Benny have happily lived in retirement at their home on Lake Limestone for 27 years. Peggy was a longtime member of Christ Church in Mexia, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Peggy was a wonderful wife, loving mother, gracious hostess, talented artist and seamstress, gardener and fiercely loyal friend. She will be remembered for having a practical approach to life, generous with advice, praise and support for her family and very large circle of friends. Peggy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Benny, her three children and their spouses, Helana and Gary Barmore of Belton, Brad and Sylvia Bloomer of Sugarland, and Bill and Danna Bloomer of Lindale; her eight grandchildren Benjamin, Amanda, Sarah, Alex, John Paul, Jeff, Brianna and Brice and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church Mexia to support ongoing ministries.
