Peggy passed from this Earth during the early morning hours on Monday, March 17, 2008. Peggy Joyce Bell Gauntt was born on February 24, 1933, in Coleman, Texas, to Joe Wren Bell and Ethel Mae Warren Bell. She was raised at the family farm in Talpa, Texas. Peggy later moved with her family to Fort Worth. These family members included her parents, two older sisters, Billie Bell Atnip and Norma Bell Jasperson, and one younger brother, Kenneth Bell, all deceased. On December 29, 1950, Peggy married Loyd Carol Gauntt. His employment within the automobile industry, specifically General Motors, allowed them to travel to several cities and out of state. Their final opportunity brought them to Mexia and Loyd opened Gauntt Pontiac, Buick, and GMC in which Peggy also worked. After several years, Peggy began a rewarding career at the Mexia State School. She began working as a Direct Care Staff member and after numerous positions which touched both clients and staff; she retired from the Staff Development Department after 30 plus years. It was apparent that working at Mexia State School was what her life plan had been. Peggy is survived by three daughters including Delynna Jean Post and husband, Mike Post, of Burleson, Texas, Pat Gamble and husband, Mike Gamble of Mexia, and LeeAnn Huse, also of Mexia. Grandchildren include Terra Kinard and husband Brad Kinard of Garland, Peggy Mannan of Crowley, Texas, Michelle Post of Fort Worth, Texas, Jordan Huse, Kelsey Huse, and Allison Huse, all of Mexia. Peggy also had one great-grandchild: Shane Post, of Burleson, Texas. Bearers will be Larry McKinney, Billy McKinney, Dean Lyons, Kelly Pitts, Joe Lynn Gauntt and Leldon Gauntt.
