Visitation with the family will be 4-6 p.m., Saturday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Harvey Hallmark is a name familiar to many people all across Texas and parts of New Mexico. He was born October 15, 1931 in Corsicana to Harvey Clarence and Ruth Melton Bunch Hallmark. He moved to Mexia early in life. Harvey worked his way through high school delivering newspapers and working at gas stations. As a young man, he served as Corporal in the United State Army. Harvey began singing and playing the guitar at a young age and became an outstanding musician and vocalist. In the early 1950's, he formed a quartet, "The Town Talkers", and they performed around the Mexia area for several years. In 1960, he rededicated his life to God and was called to preach. He attended Southwestern Assembly of God College and became an ordained minister. He pastored churches in Lancaster, Bellmead, Littlefield, Mineral Wells, Corsicana and Mexia. In addition to preaching, he also worked at Corsicana State Home and Mexia State School. Harvey played an important role in the individual lives of clients and employees of MSS with his smile and guitar. He introduced many to Jesus through his music and devotionals. He traveled all across the country with the Sunshine Singers choir, as well as spending many hours providing nursing home residents with singing and preaching. Harvey shared his gift of music, teaching many to play the guitar. He loved people and never met a stranger. Every morning, he hit the floor running to join his McDonald's coffee group. He always had a joke to tell although he didn't always remember the punch line. Harvey was a loyal sports fan. He loved the Mexia Blackcats, Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Harvey lived life to the fullest and was even able to attend his church, The First Assembly of God, last Sunday. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Clinton Allan Hallmark. Harvey is survived by his wife, Grace Hallmark of Mexia; children, Donna Duckworth of Corsicana, Taloa Willis, Harvey Clinton Hallmark and Bryan Hallmark all of Mexia; grandchildren, Jeffery Willis, Candice, Alan, Joshua and Nathaniel Hallmark and Corey Wedgman.
