Robert Dalton Carter, 83, of Mexia passed away August 8, 2009. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Rev. Rick Gray will officiate with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Robert was born December 30, 1925 in Tehuacana, Texas to Carson T. and Lillian Clementine Hodges Carter. He was a lifelong resident of Limestone County. Robert retired from Phillips Petroleum as a Boiler Operator after 20 years. He served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army. Robert had a zest for life, anyone who met him wasn't likely to forget him. He loved people. Robert enjoyed fishing as often as possible. However, there was nothing any more important to him than being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eunice Clendenen and Jessie Bea Ward; and brother, Conrad Carter. Robert is survived by his wife, Doris Vest Carter of Mexia; son, Robert D. Carter, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Mexia; daughter, Regina Turner and husband, Jerry of Mt. Calm; grandchildren, Robert D. Carter, III. and wife, Beverly of Mexia, Steve Hogan and wife, Ellen of Mexia, Stacey Hogan and wife, Jennifer of Malone, Joe Leago and wife, Vanessa of Mexia, John Leago and wife, Debbie of Mexia and Jerry R. Turner, Jr. of Mt. Calm; great-grandchildren, Judd Martin and Hunter Michael Carter, Kate Elizabeth, Natalie Lynn, Mallorie Michelle and Nicholas Stephen Hogan, Summer Dawn and Ashley Renee Turner, Ashelee Nicole and Aimee Renee Owens, Thomas and Christi Leago and Sarah and Stacy Masters; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ayden Leago; and sister, Annie Pearl Williamson of Seguin. Pallbearers will be Robert D. Carter, III., Steve Hogan, Stacey Hogan, Jamie Carter, Ronnie Maiden, Mark Vest, Jackie Reynolds and Joe Leago. Honorary pallbearers will be his Coffee Buddies at McDonalds.
