Robert Alexander "Alex" Gardea

Robert Alexander “Alex” Gardea, of Mexia, was called home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2024 at the age of 24. Alex was born on February 10, 2000 in Uvalde, Texas to Fernando Gardea, Sr. and Paz (Silva) Gardea. He has been a resident of Mexia for 20 years and a graduate of Mexia High School, Class of 2018. He was a heavy equipment operator for Blattner Energy.

Alex was a loving son, brother, and uncle. Family was most important to him. Alex had the upmost love, respect, and plenty of genuine hugs and kisses for his mother; they shared a very close mother/son relationship. Very few days went by that he didn’t call and check on her. Alex loved being an uncle, enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews, and made every effort to attend all their events. 

In addition to being a hard worker, Alex had a big heart, an outgoing personality, and a great sense of humor. He also enjoyed fishing, going to the casino with his mom, dancing and singing.

Alex is survived by his father, Fernando Gardea, Sr.; mother, Paz Gardea; sister and brothers, Anthony Silva and wife, Erica, Fernando Gardea, Jr. and wife, Alyssa, Gabriel Gardea and wife, Jackie, Jose Gardea and wife, Julia, and Yesenia Gardea; nieces and nephews, Zoe Silva, William Silva, Victoria Silva, Khloe Gardea, Kash Gardea, and Kristian Gardea.

Visitation with the family will be 3-6 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2024 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Pastor Mario Rivera officiating. Fernando Gardea, Sr., Fernando Gardea, Jr., Juan Briceno, Gustavo Briceno, Anthony Silva, Jose Gardea, Ozkar Berlanga, and Katin Briceno will serve as pallbearers.
