Tommy was born January 23, 1938 in Hughes Springs, Texas to Cecil and Myrtle (Walker) Vaughan. His working career began with Lone Star Steel for 17 ½ years, then he spent several years with the Cities of Daingerfield, Mexia and Teague, and retired from Johnson Lab after 20 years as a salesman. However, Tommy was a hard worker and not one to sit idle, he liked to keep busy. He didn’t stay retired long, he was presently an employee of Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, where he enjoyed visiting with and helping people in their time of need.
Tommy was dedicated to serving God, loving his family, and treating everyone with respect. He was very outgoing, never met a stranger, and just loved people in general. Tommy was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as an Usher & Greeter and thoroughly enjoyed the activities, especially, those that included meals. He served on the city council in Daingerfield and Mexia. He was also a Master Mason for 59 years and a longtime member of the Scottish Rite.
In addition to visiting with people, his other hobbies consisted of playing 42, watching sports, especially, the Baylor Bears, listening to country music, and playing and singing country music. Tommy was a friend to many and, anyone that was his friend, knew he was a true friend that you could always count on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Myrtle Vaughan, brother, Jerry W. Vaughan; sister, Linda Gilmore; and three special puppy dogs, Skittles, Chae and Muffy.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Betty Vaughan of Mexia, children, Michael Vaughan and wife, Becky of Pittsburg, Michelle Barnard and husband, Charlie of Daingerfield, Kelly Bahrs and husband, Peter of Georgetown, and Kathy Hardage of Mexia; grandchildren, Bryan Vaughan and wife, Ashley, Brinn Adams and husband Trent, and Andrew Bahrs; great grandchildren, Bryley Vaughan and Kambri Vaughan; sister, Mildred Gay Vaughan; and several nieces and nephews.
