Rolland "Doc" Belcher passed away Thursday evening at his home on Lake Mexia. Doc was born in Nevada, Iowa on February 16, 1933 to Clark and Evelyn Belcher. Doc joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Navy in 1971 and made his home in Wahiawa, Hawaii with his wife, Pauline and three children, Dwayne, Teresa and Beverly. He worked as a contractor for the US Weather Service in Hawaii for many years and for FOPCO Construction Company before his retirement in 1994. He was a Catholic and served as a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. His Pauline passed away in 1992 after 40 years of marriage. After retirement in 1994, Doc moved to Lake Mexia and spent time traveling on the US mainland reconnecting with family and friends. During his travels, he visited with his high school sweetheart, Barbara, who husband had also passed away. After a year of courtship, Doc and Barbara were married and spent the next 16 years traveling the US and making their home in Omaha, NE and Lake Mexia. Barbara passed away in Omaha in January 2013. Doc was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline; his second wife, Barbara; and his son, Dwayne. He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Price and husband, Rick of Lake Mexia and Beverly DeGuzman and husband, Michael of Ewa Beach HI; stepson, Scott Gauger and wife, Mary of Omaha, NE; stepdaughter, Jean Buick of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Michele DeGuzman and Joshua DeGuzman of Ewa Beach, HI, Shannon Buick, Jessica Buick, Dillion Buick and Matthew Gauger all of Omaha, NE, Mellissa Cominski and husband, David of Austin, TX, Brandon Price and wife, Angie of Vancouver, WA and Christopher Price and wife, Cheryl of Mililani, HI; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. There will be a private belssing on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the home of Rick and Teresa Price with funeral services pending in Hawaii. Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) in Honolulu.
