Mr. Roy Stevens Johnson, Sr. 87 of Lake Mexia passed away at his residence on April 5, 2007. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7 in Blair - Stubbs Chapel in Mexia. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Forest Glade Cemetery. Rev. Clifton Jones, pastor of Prairie Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation with the family will be 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Johnson was born October 8, 1919 in Mexia to Emmet and Myrtle Hensley Johnson and lived all of his life in this area. He was a heavy equipment operator for 30 years; served in the U. S. Army from 1938 - 1940 and 1942-1945, serving on Leyte and Okinawa with the 96th Division (known at The Dead Eyes) during World War II. Mr. Johnson is survived by his children: Roy Stevens Johnson, Jr. and wife, Mari of Teague, Judy Kay Crundwell of Lake Mexia; Wesley Lynn Johnson and wife, Kathy Of Mexia; Helen Ann Shields and husband, Jerry Don of Lake Limestone, and Carolyn (Lou) Pipes and husband, Charlie, of Garland; grandchildren: Kevin Johnson, Deidera Johnson, Wiley Patterson, John D. Crundwell, Lex Crundwell, Brandi, Staci Johnson, Terry Johnson, Beth Robinson, Michael Tubbs, Charles Pipes, Jr. Sarah Pipes, Katie Pipes, and Sheila Oliver, brother, Blake Johnson of Mexia; and sisters, Dolly Foreman and Mary Spillers, both of Mexia. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Oliver, three brothers, H. L., Barney, and Weldon Johnson, a sister, Ruby Bounds, and a son in law: Jerry Robinson. .
