Mr. Roy Lavon Smith, 67 of Dew passed away January 20, 2006 in Tyler. Mr. Smith was born November 18, 1938 in Dew. He had been a backhoe operator for Palestine Contractors for about 20 years and had served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters - Elizabeth Caldwell of Baytown, Carla Gallop of Athens. Son - Johnny Weaver, Five grandchildren - Jennifer Leija, Travis Weaver, Katie Weaver, Kelly Weaver and Sarah Weaver. Two sisters - Sue Jordan and Billie Williams of Dew and by one brother - James O. Smith also of Dew. Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 in the Dew cemetery in Dew, Texas. The Rev. Bryan Allen officiated at the service. Pallbearers were David Hogan, Warren Carter, Lyndell Carter, Greg Phillips, Charles Jordan and Michael Caldwell.
