The world lost an amazing lady in the early hours of the morning on December 23, 2021. Mrs. Ruby Lee Compton was quiet, shy, loving and fiercely devoted to her family and friends. She passed away in her daughter’s home in Robinson, Texas at the age of 90.
Ruby was born September 25, 1931 in Hubbard, Texas to Herman and Annie (Schronk) Adler. Prior to retirement, she dedicated 43 years of service as Cafeteria Manager for Coolidge ISD. Due to her love for children, she found this to be a very rewarding job.
Ruby married Joe Edd Compton on November 19, 1954 in Malone, Texas. They were blessed with over 63 years together at the time of his death on May 15, 2018. Ruby’s love for the Lord, family, and friends was exemplified in her life, daily. Her love for her daughter was strong and it grew stronger when the grandchildren came along, but nothing could compare to the great grandsons – “she loved, loved, loved them”.
Ruby was a dedicated Christian and longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Coolidge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Annie Adler; husband, Joe Edd Compton; and brothers, Eddie and Alton Adler.
Ruby is survived by her loving family, daughter, Donna Spencer and husband, Stephen of Robinson; grandchildren, Lee and Ray Sanders of Lorena, Lara and Nate Wilkins, of Maine, and Kendall Adler of Waco; great grandsons, Tripp Sanders and Eli Wilkins; and sisters, Annie Christian of Penelope, Mabelene Tidwell of Brazoria, and Glendell Adler of Mart.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 26, 2021 in the Coolidge Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Chuck Sturgeon officiating. Visitation with the family will be, prior to the service, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
