Ruby Christell Hill

Ruby Christell “Chris” Hill passed away July 11, 2023 in Waco, Texas at the age of 91.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Brother Michael Vestal officiating.  Interment will follow in the Eutaw Cemetery in Kosse.

Visitation with the family will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Chris was born February 29, 1932 in Kosse, Texas to Marcus Edgar and Elleen (Allen) Wright.  She worked for the Denton State School, Mexia State School (for several years), and later, in the Foster Grandparent program at the Mexia State School.   She was a natural caregiver, she had a big, loving, and caring heart.

Chris’ world revolved around her love for the Lord and family.  She was a devoted Christian, and her family was her life.  She was best known as “Mamaw” to, not only family, but many others outside the family.  They all knew that Mamaw would do her best to help them with any and everything they needed; she was the one they could always count on.   Her home was open to anyone; she was a good cook and, over the years, enjoyed preparing many Sunday dinners for her Pastors.  She was a longtime member of the Temple Baptist Church in Mexia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Hill; three sons; one grandson; and three brothers.  

Chris is survived by her son, Gary E. Hill and wife, Gail of Early; daughter, June Bell of Waco; daughter-in-law, Toni Hill of Springtown; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Bill Wright, Sr. and wife, Judy of Mexia and Ernest Wright of Teague; and several nieces and nephews.
