Funeral services for Russell (Dusty) Rowley will be 2 p.m, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Blair - Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Michael Vestal, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Mexia officiating. Interment will follow in the Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck. Visitation with the family will be 6 - 8 p.m. Friday night at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. On April 3, 2008 Russell (Dusty) Rowley went to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born February 18, 1946 in Woburn, Massachusetts to Russell and Muriel (Clark) Rowley and as a young child he lived in Glendora, California for a while then this family moved back to Maine. He entered the US Army during the Vietnam era and served two tours in Thailand. After retiring from the army he made Texas his home. Even with the handicaps of being a disabled veteran he enjoyed spending time with this family. He loved going to church and was a member of the Forest Glade Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors just to see the flowers, watch the birds and animals and to simply be in the presence of God's creation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Muriel (Clark) Rowley. He is survived by his wife, Betty Parker Rowley of Mexia, a brother, Gordon Rowley and wife, Norma of Glendora, California, brother, David Rowley and wife, Leanna of Troy, Maine and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and family. Pallbearers will be Ivy Gray, Jeremie Howard, Joshua Howard, Joseph Howard, Bud Howard, and Terry Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Sandifer and Cecil Sandifer. Memorials may be made to Latham Springs Encampment or favorite charity.
