Sara Olivarez, 89, of Mexia, passed away January 19, 2015 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Sara was born October 4, 1925 in Coolidge, Texas to Paul and Julia Cervantez Lopez. She worked at the Mexia Textile Mill for a short time and later opened a daycare in her home, but her main job revolved around caring for her family. Sara married David Olivarez on January 16, 1948 in Coolidge, Texas. She and David were blessed with five children, Della, Arthur, Al, Alicia and Millie. When Sara wasn't spending time with family, she enjoyed sewing and gardening; she was a hard worker. She and David were very active members of the Mexia VFW. Sara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Like most grandmothers, she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 53 years, David; two brothers; four sisters; and daughter-in-law, Carol Olivarez. Sara is survived by her five children, Della Suasa and husband, Nate of Lorena, Arthur Olivarez of Mexia, Al Olivarez of Dallas, Alicia Reed of Mexia and Millie Carroll and husband, Paul of Mexia; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;sisters, Josephine Miller of West and Elizabeth of Dallas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
