Sharlett Ann Van Winkle, 71, of Shiloh, passed away November 5, 2014 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. James Hooper and Rev. Shane Norcross officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at Calvary Baptist Church. Sharlett was born January 13, 1943 in Gray, Texas to W. W. and Fannie Lelia Davis Wilson. She graduated from Lumberton High School in Lumberton, MS and later attended both Navarro and MCC to obtain an associate degree. Sharlett retired from the State of Texas Human Resource Department after 20 years of service, prior to working 12 years for Brown Oil and Gas and 14 ½ years for ABCO Manufacturing Company. Sharlett married Jimmy Van Winkle, the love of her life, on September 19, 1964 at the First United Methodist Church in Wortham, Texas. She was faithful in serving her Lord and being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and, most recently, great-grandmother. She cherished her grandchildren and great-granddaughter; spending as much time with them and spoiling them was her favorite pastime. Sharlett's family meant everything to her. Sharlett enjoyed spending time working in her flower beds and shopping for flowers. She was a longtime active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as their organist for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Willis W. and Ann Wilson. Sharlett is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Van Winkle of Shiloh; son, Randall Glenn Van Winkle of Mexia; daughter, Shelli Annette Van Winkle of Shiloh; step-sons, Micky Van Winkle and wife, Sandy and Ricky Van Winkle and wife, Barbara both of Mexia; grandchildren, Zackary Taylor Van Winkle and wife, Marcelina of Coolidge, Casey Danielle Willis and husband, Laramie of Marquez and Madison Rachelle Van Winkle of Mart; great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Johanna Van Winkle of Coolidge; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda Nell and Jack Modisette of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Zackary Van Winkle, Laramie Willis, Ricky Van Winkle, Micky Van Winkle, Robert Loggins and Larry Black. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Providence Hospice, 107 E. Commerce, Mexia, TX 76667.
