Sidney Joe Howard

Sidney Joe Howard, formerly of Mexia, passed away February 3, 2024 in Franklin, Texas at the age of 88.   He was born in Jewett, Texas on April 18, 1935 to Freddie and Elizabeth (Taylor) Howard.  He was a retired employee of the Mexia State Supported Living Center.

Sidney enjoyed many things in life, but nothing was more important than family.  He loved his family, and his love grew with each new generation that came along.  Needless to say, he enjoyed spoiling his grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids.   

Sidney was a member of the masonic lodge in Jewett for a number of years.  Whenever he had the chance, he enjoyed getting out in the country to do some fishing and hunting.  He was also a big fan of the Texas Rangers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Freddie and Elizabeth Howard; son, Freddy Howard; daughter, Jeanie Howard Ardoin; brothers, Hugh Douglas, James Eugene, and Charles David; sisters, Cathy Elizabeth, Lilly Tina, Judith Ann, Nellie Mae, and Melva.

Sidney is survived by his wife, Lillie Pearl Howard of New Baden; son, Doug Howard of LA; daughter, Jennifer Ridge and husband, Kirk of Tomball; stepsons, Randy Price and wife, Michelle of WI, and David Price and wife, Rebecca of Donie; 25 grandkids; 29 great grandkids; 2 great-great grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
