Skyla Cox

Skyla Jean Cox, 25, passed away on June 21, 2020 in Waco, Texas, as a result of an auto accident. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.

Skyla was born April 26, 1995 in Mexia, Texas. She also lived in Virginia, Coolidge and Waco and cherished the friends she made in each place.  Skyla was very outgoing, always happy, and had a very kind heart.  She loved to cook, which she did very well as she was taught by another wonderful cook, her mother. She enjoyed rap music and was always the life of the party. When she smiled, her big blue eyes sparkled, and she was quick to love and to forgive. She also loved her children very much.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herb Maddox; grandmother, Barbara Cox; and uncles, Stevie, Rodney, Gary and Kenneth Page and Charlie Cox.

Skyla is survived by her loving mother, Shonda Maddox; children, Sophia Rivera, Elijah and Arial Peoples and Tyson Womack; sister, Christa Ochoa and husband, Aaron; nieces, Noraa and Harper Ochoa; step-sister, Melissa Maddox; aunts, Pam Guest, Lisa Smith, Angela Britton and Donna Cox; uncle, Billy Foy Cox, Jr.; and numerous relatives that all loved her very much.

Pallbearers include Ricky Payne, Kasey Payne, Austin Dixon, Thomas Raue, Andrew Guest and Aaron Ochoa.
