Mr. Stansell Armour (Smokie) Wade, 89, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Hubbard. Mr. Wade was born June 13, 1921 in Coolidge to John H. and Janie McClelland Wade. He lived a full and colorful life as a farmer and rancher, veteran of World War II, and as a Texas Highway Department employee for 34 years. He worked his way through the ranks of the Highway Department retiring as a chief inspector. Smokie as he was known by many will be remembered for his unique personality and his straightforwardness with people. Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce and his sister, Frances Hudson. Survivors include his sons, Stansell A. (Little Smokie) Wade of Coolidge and Keith Wade of Groesbeck, Granddaughter, Shawna Wade and Great Grandchidren, Ty Robinson and Riggen Sehon Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in the Coolidge cemetery with the Reverend Chuck Sturgeon officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm Monday at Blair-Stubbs funeral home in Mexia.
