Sybil Brown

Sybil Varue Brown, 91, of Coolidge passed away September 24, 2012 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Coolidge with Rev. Chuck Sturgeon and Rev. Larry Holden officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Sybil was born January 1, 1921 in Delia, Texas to George and Mae Shanks Stafford. She was a retired employee of the Coolidge ISD Food Service. Sybil married Travis Brown on July 1, 1944 in Hubbard, Texas. Her love and devotion to her family and God were evident in her life. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Coolidge where she served many years as a Sunday School Teacher and Mission Director. She was also a member of the Coolidge Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Crye; and brother, Wendell Stafford. Sybil is survived by her husband of 68 years, Travis of Coolidge; sons, Murry Brown and wife, Kathy and Roland Brown and wife, Debbie all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kevin an Jessica Brown of Lufkin, Erik and Callie Brown of Lufkin, Mark and Emily Leeder of Lajes Azores, Portugal; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Austin and Allie Brown, Ella Kate Brown all of Lufkin and Declan and Kaelyn Leeder of Lajes Azores, Portugal; sisters, Emogene Gibson and husband, Jack of Whitney and Dorothy Nell Johnson of Waco; and a number of nieces and nephews. Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Brown, Erik Brown, Daylon Crye, Jackie Gibson, Mark Gibson and Larry Stafford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Coolidge, Texas.
