Teddy Weaver, II

Ted Augustus “Teddy” Weaver, II passed away October 12, 2023 at his home in Wortham at the age of 68.  Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 16, 2023 in the First Baptist Church of Wortham with Tuffy Loftin officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wortham Cemetery.

Teddy was born September 9, 1955 in Corsicana, Texas to Ted Augustus Weaver and Shirley Ann (Bosley) Weaver.  He was a rancher and cowboy his entire life. He carried on the family tradition by living on the family ranch that his great grandfather started 150 years ago.

Teddy was a Texas history enthusiast. He collected books on Texas, western history, guns, and anything cowboy.  He loved telling humorous stories of his exciting and adventurous cowboy experiences, of which there were many.  If needed, he wasn’t above adding a little something extra to make them more laughable.

Teddy began his rodeo career when he was a teenager.  He participated in steer roping, team roping and, his favorite event, wild cow milking.  In his younger days, he picked up in the rough stock events.  Teddy’s idea of fun was chasing, roping, and catching wild cattle.  He entered his last rodeo at age 67 and was already thinking about his next one.    

Being known by many in the area, Teddy was easily recognized by his old battered black hat and his old battered pickup truck filled with debris.

Although he was busy with many outside activities, Teddy’s love for his family, his many, many friends and his horses were most important in his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Augustus Weaver and wife, Vickie Weaver.

Teddy is survived by his mother, Shirley Ann (Bosley) Weaver; sons, Ketch Weaver of Wortham and Cole Ridge and wife, Kristie of Fairfield; and grandchildren, Kaylie Ridge, Kyler Ridge, Kodi Ann Weaver and Kora Augustus Weaver.
