Theda Gaye Oberholtzer, 88, of Mexia passed away February 19, 2012 in Mexia. Graveside services will be 11AM, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the Mexia Cemetery with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Visitation with the family will be 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Theda was born February 7, 1924 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Clarence and Vinnie Dunn Presley. She married Bruce Elden Oberholtzer on August 5, 1942. She lived in Mexia from 1962 until 1972, while her husband served as Mexia ISD Superintendent, and returned in 1984. Theda worked as a secretary for the Mexia State School and McCreary Law Firm in Austin. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Theda left a legacy of the value of family to her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Bruce; one sister; and one brother. Theda is survived by three daughters, Karen Wiggins and husband, Mark of Austin, Phyllis Brubaker of Mexia and Nancy Hinsley and husband, Mike of Midland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a dear friend and companion, Gordon Payne of Mexia. Memorials may be made to the Mexia Academic Sweater and Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 534, Mexia, Texas.
