Thelma "Claudine" Aman passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at her home on the farm at the age of 96. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Pt. Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Daryl Hatley and Rev. Eddy Hayworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Claudine was born June 9, 1914 in Thornton, Texas to Clovis Price and Ellen Rosetta (Brooks) Aman. She graduated in 1935 from Thornton High School. She went to Drone's Business School in Houston, Westminister College in Tehuacana and graduated from Navarro Jr. College in Corsicana with an Associate Degree in Business. After graduating from college, Claudine started to work for the State Department of Public Welfare in 1944 and retired from the Mexia State School in 1977. She was very active in the Pt. Enterprise Baptist Church where she was piano/organist starting in 1937; WMU Director in 1974-76 and 1982-87; Training Union Director in 1977-78; church clerk in 1955; and a children's Sunday School teacher for years. She was a longtime member of the Mexia Business & Professional Women's Club where she was voted Woman of The Year in 1973-74. Claudine was active in the Foster Grandparent Program of the United States where she received "Award of Action" for 10 years of service. She was a member of the Pt. Enterprise Goodwill Club. She was an avid quilter, seamstress, she crocheted and knitted. She was a member of the Jonathan Hardin Chapter of the DAR. Every nephew, niece and all the grand nephews and nieces received beautiful handmade stuffed animals. Aunt Claude was an exciting story teller, bringing real life stories to all of the family; and she would say our "Heritage is our Memories". What a Treasure we had an Aunt Claude and she will be missed but some day, we will all be together in the Heavenly Farm. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ocil Bernice Aman; and sister, Tommie Gwendolyn Norris. Claudine is survived by one sister, Imogene "Jean" Wright of Pasadena; a number of nieces and nephews; her church family; and many friends. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Norris, Mark Wright, Mike Aman, Bob Bishop, Matthew Thornton and Jack Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will be great-nephews, Scott Norris, Mike Aman, Mike Norris, Micah Bishop, Seth Wright and he Pt. Enterprise Baptist Church Deacons. Memorials may be made to Pt. Enterprise Baptist Church or Pt. Enterprise Goodwill Club.
