Thelma Bolton

Thelma J. Bolton, of Mexia, passed away on May 27, 2021 in Groesbeck, Texas at the age of 91.

Thelma was born on August 24, 1929 in Shiloh, Texas to Wendell Odell and Bertie Inez (West) Beene.  She graduated from Mexia High School and attended Navarro College for one year.  Thelma worked for the Mexia Daily News, KBUS Radio, and Walmart.  She also had a day care in her home for several years; she loved children.

Thelma’s life was devoted to serving the Lord, taking care of her family, and being a friend to many.  She married Pat Bolton on May 18, 1951 in Mexia and they were blessed 35 years together, prior to his death in 1986. She dearly loved her children, but her love just grew stronger as the grandchildren and great grandchildren came along; they were the light of her life.  Thelma and her sister, Eva shared a special bond.  In the latter years of their lives, they lived together and took care of each other until Eva’s death. Family reunions were always a special event that she looked forward to attending.

Thelma was a lifelong Southern Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Bertie Beene; husband, Pat Bolton; son, Wendell Bolton; sister, Eva Ray; brother-in-law, Pete Ray, and son-in-law, Bobby Miller.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Patti Miller of Henderson; son, Mike Bolton and wife, Valerie of Mexia; grandchildren, Zack Bolton and wife, Amanda, Andy Bolton and wife, Leah, Kerri Nichols and husband, Brian, Brian Miller and wife, Meredith, Staci Fleming and husband, Brandon, Stephanie Olvera and husband, Julio, Shelby Wolken and husband, Taylor, Scott Bolton and wife, Lauren and Gregg Moses; great grandchildren, Christopher Bolton, Peyton Bolton, Sage Sanders, Ethan Palmer, Luke Nichols, Bethani Nichols, Emma Grace Miller, Blake Miller, Reese Fleming, Rilynn Fleming, Skye Olvera, Vida Olvera, Gavin Wolken, Mason Bolton, and Callum Bolton.
