Thomas Moore

Thomas Eugene "Gene" Moore, 83, passed away March 4, 2016 at his home in Point Enterprise. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Bro. Bruce Rudd officiating. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4-6 pm, Sunday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Gene was born May 31, 1932 in Limestone County, Texas to Eugene Hastings and Ruby Viola Little Moore. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Gene married his lifelong partner, Peggy Wright, on March 29, 1956 in Houston, Texas. His love for God and his family was easily revealed in the way he lived his life. He loved and cherished all his family, but like most grandfathers, thought there was nothing more precious than his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene was a rather quiet, easy going man that never complained; when ask how he was doing, his answer was always "Wonderful". Gene retired from the Mexia State School after 25 years of service as an electrician. He was a hard worker who liked to keep busy. He enjoyed working in his workshop (a "Mister Fix It"), helping others and loved raising horses. Gene was a longtime member of the Point Enterprise Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, E. J. "Buddy" Moore. Gene is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy of Pt. Enterprise; son, Darrell Wayne Moore and wife, Jane of Teague; daughter, Ruby Jeanette Howell and husband, Terry of Mexia; grandchildren, April Moore Welch and husband, Bubba, Stephen Howell, Stephanie Howell Webb and husband, Keith, Jason Howell and wife, Trish, Cody Moore, Christina Howell Smiley and husband, Andrew; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Landyn, Lyric and Nicholas Webb, Brooklyn and Drew Smiley, Jordan and Luke Howell, Leslie and Jessica Howell, Brittnee Ransberger, Brady and Bryleigh Welch, Mabree, Brant and Bryce Moore. Pallbearers will be Stephen Howell, Jason Howell, Cody Moore, Bubba Welch, Andy Smiley and Keith Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Howell, Brady Welch, Noah Webb and Jordan Howell. The family would like to thank Gene's special caregivers, Carmen Hall, Nikki Miller, Cynthia "Tina" Jones and Sandra Haynes for their love and dedication.
