In 57 years, Thomas Ozie Johnson, III shared Jesus, love, and laughter with his family and friends. He married his college sweetheart, Lieschen, and was a proud father to Tommy, Lilly, and Matthew. Together they built a fabulous life.
Tommy enjoyed coaching his sons’ teams, sharing his fishing passion, and drinking coffee with his daughter. He shared a love of classic rock with his children and made sure they attended concerts with him. He invested in youth and enjoyed spending time with the friends and teammates of his children. As a teacher, he enjoyed working with the most challenging students because they reminded him of his own rebel spirit. He was equally at home at a Harley rally, on a sports field, or in a church. He spent countless hours photographing people, sports, and nature.
Tommy was a fun-loving, crazy man of God who loved deeply and lived life “full-throttle”. He will be missed by his wife and children, Lieschen, Tommy, Lilly, and Matthew; his parents, Tom and Judy Johnson; his brother and wife, George and Laura Johnson; his aunt, Ann Patton Talley; and a large extended family of siblings by marriage, nephews, nieces, cousins, church members, and friends. His mom, Sharon Johnson James, preceded him in death.
Tommy praised God through music in many churches before serving as Minister of Music at Northridge Baptist Church for two decades. He loved hymns and will be remembered for his crazy antics during vacation bible school. Someday when you join him, you will find him in the loudest section of Heaven praising his Creator.
Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Reverend Marcus Sheffield will officiating. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Tommy Johnson, Matthew Johnson, George Johnson, David Easterling, David James, and David Ludlam will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Fitch and Andy Shields.
In Conroe, there will be a Celebration of Life service at Northridge Baptist Church on Sunday, November 20, beginning at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a music ministry of choice or the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 500 E. Carthage, Mexia, TX 76667.
