Tim Dezelle Spruiell was born in Mexia, TX on May 8, 1944 to parents Fred and Anne Spruiell. He passed away on September 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Tim graduated from Gupton-Jones Mortuary College and began his funeral service career as an intern in Colorado City, TX. and then began working for Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, TX. Tim joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam. Upon his return home, he started his career with the VA Regional Office in Waco. In 1993 Tim began working at a homeless shelter; afterwards he returned to the VA where he continued to work for over 38 years until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed spending time outdoors snow skiing, water skiing, and wood crafting. Tim loved being around people and he was known to have a giving heart. He would build crafts and give them to everyone. Tim was a Dallas Cowboys fan and he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by those who loved him most. Tim is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ray Spruiell; sister Betty Ann Gupton of West Columbia, TX; and many other family members, friends, and colleagues. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. Funeral Services will be held at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia, TX, on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery.
