Mrs. Tommie Virginia Bradford New, 94, of Mexia passed away Saturday morning in Mexia. She was born May 13, 1918 in Itasca to Benjamin McFarland and Isabell Wilson Bradford. Mrs. New lived nearly all of her life in Mexia working with her husband, Eddie New at New's Grocery and raising a family. Mr. and Mrs. New were married over seventy years at the time of his death in 2010. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Benjamin McFarland Bradford and Wilson McFarland Bradford; and sister, Vera Lehman. She is survived by her sons, Noah E. New and wife Claudia of DeSoto and Timothy Ben New and wife Jeane of Effingham, S.C.; grandchildren, Courtney New Hartnett and husband Chris, Tabetha New Wilson and husband Brian, Tiffney New Courtney and husband Haynes and Kristina New Nichols and husband David. She is further survived by her great grandchildren, Chandler, Cameron and Jack Hartnett, Logan, Cassie and Ashley Wilson, Ryley Nichols, Jimmy Courtney; and by numerous Nieces and Nephews. The Family would like to thank Zoleta Castile for her loving care and compassion to Mrs. New. Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Blair-Stubbs Chapel with the Reverend James Hooper and Mr. Neil Bond officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dan Beene, Don Beene, Jack Beene, Jerry New, Jimmy New and David Nichols.
