Treon Odean Erwin, of Coolidge, passed away November 21, 2019 in Waco, Texas at the age of 84. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Coolidge, Texas with Rev. Chuck Sturgeon officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Danny Finley, Dale Lowry, Dr. Chris Hulen, Randall Jacobs, Heath Allcorn and Abraham Serna will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rick Bennett and Bill Ward.
Visitation with the family will be 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Treon was born November 18, 1935 in Hopewell, Oklahoma to John and Florence Troutman Teafatiller; her family were descendants of the Choctaw Indians. She was a graduate of Coolidge High School, Class of 1955. She retired from the Mexia State Supported Living Center, after 20 plus years of service, as Supervisor of Housekeeping.
Treon had a "zest" for life, very outgoing and willing to help anyone or anywhere she was needed. She was very active in her church and community. She served on the Coolidge School Board, Coolidge Senior Citizens Board and the HUD Board. She was an active participant in the Coolidge Garden Club, Mesquite Tree Festival and enjoyed singing with the Wings of Joy. Treon loved the Lord and exemplified it by the way she lived her life. She was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Coolidge.
Treon may have been busy in many outside activities, but her dedication and first priority was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Happiness meant being with her family and the time and love she shared with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was extra special.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Teafatiller; husband, Kenneth Earl Erwin; and sister, Evelyn Downs.
Treon is survived by two sons, Donald Erwin and wife, Katrina of Coolidge and Brent Erwin of Ft. Worth; grandson, Kenneth Erwin and wife, Jnette and their children, Mason and Chase of Coolidge; granddaughter, Deirdre Erwin of Coolidge; brother, Daniel Teafatiller and wife, Betty of White Settlement; and a number of nieces and nephews.
