Vicki Collins

Vicki Lee Collins passed away September 9, 2021 in Mexia at the age of 79.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 13, 2021 in the Prairie Grove Cemetery with Rev. Clifton Jones officiating.

Vicki was born July 5, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Frederick Maurice and Delores Louise (Apffel) Buckner.  After graduating from high school, she continued her education, and graduated from the University of Houston.  She and her husband moved to the Prairie Grove Community in February 2020.

Vicki married her lifelong partner, Donald Ray Collins, on April 19, 1961 in Mexia, Texas.  She was happy being a housewife, taking care of their home, tying out new restaurants, and she loved to read.  Vicki and her mother shared the love of reading.  They spent a lot of time together, over the years, visiting the library to check out books.   She was perfectly happy staying home while Don went fishing or enjoyed other outdoor activities.  The simple things in life is all it took to make her happy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Louise Buckner.

Vicki is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Collins of Mexia; brother, Ricky Buckner and wife, Nancy of Round Rock; sister, Kathy Athey and husband, Wally of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Betty Stewart.; and she was an amazing aunt to her surviving two nieces, Susan Weedman and Katy Herr and nephew, Ryan Buckner..
