Virgil Paul Shane, 77, of Lake Limestone passed away October 17, 2009 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 9 AM, Monday, October 19, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 PM in Brookside Memorial Park in Houston. Visitation with the family will be 4-6 PM Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Virgil was born January 12, 1932 in Beaumont, Texas to Phillip Arthur and Ida McKinley (Ward) Shane. He was a retired truck driver. Virgil served his county in the U. S. Army as a Medic and MP during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents. Virgil is survived by a sister, Beverly Fatout of Teague; and a number of nieces and nephews, Linda Ward and husband, Wiley of Crystal Beach, Tx., Brenda Whitney and husband, Steve of Grey, La., Kenneth Webster and wife, Shirley of Jewett, Tx., Linda Johnson and husband, Dennis of Grand Isle, La., Bobby Webster and wife, Roxanne of Houma, La., Garland Shane, Jr. of Houston, Tx., Carolyn Harcrow of New Caney, Tx., Phillip Shane and wife, Becky of Houston, Tx., James Shane, Jr. and wife, Frieda of Splendora, Tx. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bill Reid, Tommy J. Webster, Michael W. Webster, Kenneth Webster, Bobby Webster and Phillip Shane.
