Walton Edward "Ed" Holt, 91, passed away December 10, 2015 at his home in Point Enterprise. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Northcrest Church of Christ with Mr. Shane Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Ed was born in Mexia, Texas on February 22, 1924 to Elbridge and Lucy Johnson Holt. He grew up, during the depression, working on the family farm in Point Enterprise. His love for the country and home was very evident when he and a friend hitchhiked home from San Diego, California rather than wait for transportation. Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After the service, he began his career as a welder, working in construction and off shore for numerous years prior to retiring from Texas Utilities Generating Company after 18 years of service. On August 8, 1963, he married the love of his life, Betty Knox in Mexia, Texas. Ed was a dedicated Christian, loving husband, father and grandfather; he cherished his family. He was always willing to help people, especially his neighbors and would feel insulted if anyone ask "what do I owe you". He enjoyed teasing children as well as others. He had a special relationship with his brothers, he and Robert spent a lot of time fishing while he and Amos worked together farming and sharing farm equipment. As a young man, he was known for his being an excellent fastball pitcher in softball. Ed was a longtime active member of Northcrest Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Amos Holt; and sisters, Elizabeth Hawkins, Ruby Williams, Margrette Kerzee and Cora Lee Crockett. Ed is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Holt of Pt. Enterprise; children, Mimi Holt Sharp of Groesbeck, Walt Holt and wife, Kelli of College Station and Jill Holt Handy of Pt. Enterprise; grandchildren, Gabrielle Brewer and husband, Bo, Trey Holt, Mitchell Holt, Joshua Espinoza and Jacob Espinoza; great-grandson, Mark Daniel Brody Brewer, III; sister, Bessie Lou Calame of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Trey Holt, Mitch Holt, Joshua Espinoza, Warren Holt, Vince Keys and Amos Earl Holt. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Espinoza, Bo Brewer, Brody Brewer and Neil Holt.
